1836 Commemorative Coronation Coin Bowl for Maria Anna and Ferdinand I Bohemia:
COMMEMORATIVE CORONATION COIN BOWL
This metal bowl has a coin as its bottom. The metal bowl is silver in color and since a magnet sticks to it I’m thinking it is steel since stamped into the metal towards the bottom is “AS Stainless Italy”. It measures about 5 ½” wide and about 1 ½” tall.
The bottom of the bowl is formed by the insertion of a gold colored coin. From what I can make out, it is a coronation coin celebrating the crowning of Maria Anna Augusta and Ferdinand I as King and Queen of Bohemia in Prague in September of 1836.
On one side of the coin is a portrait of Maria Anna and on the other side is what appears to be an imperial coat of arms and the words “et altera mihi patria” and the coronation date.
I have no history on this bowl or how our family came to have it. In fact, I would appreciate it if anyone can tell me anything about it.
