This isvery niceJamesReed & Companygimbaled surveyors miningcompass that dates to about 1850. As you can see from the photos it has a nice medium patina finish, it does not have a box or anything else with it. This instrument measures14 inches long andhas a 4 3/4 inch long compass needle. This is one of very few American made gimbaled mining compasses, it comes with what you see in the photos nothing else. The level bubble is cracked and dry and there is a small bit ofthe plaster thatholds the compass glass in loose under the glass.Postage is $20.00if within the US, more If you are outside the US; no charge for careful packing.
