This sculpture is a beautiful piece that Alexander Phimister Proctor did for the US Army. It was awarded to sharpshooters that could shoot from horseback. Otherwise called the Goodrich Riding Trophy.
Proctor’s sculpture features a cavalry trooper mounted atop a horse depicted in full gallop. The trooper, gripping the horse’s reins with his left hand, has his M1911 .45 caliber pistol drawn and leveled upon an unseen target. The bronze sculpture, titled “U.S. Cavalryman,”
