Alexander Restored Org M40 WWII German STAHLHELM 1940 Helmet m35 Q66 LARGE SIZE :
Up for sale is this professionally restored original WWII M40 German (single decal) Stahlhelm helmet in large-size 66 shell & 59 liner. This design is the next version / model made after the M35 helmets had ceased to be made and were made from 1940 until about 1942...when the next version came out. Professionally restored by "Alexander & Sons Restorations." Alexander & Sons have faithfully restored this represent an early to mid-war repaint with a the less shiny dark field-gray with some texture to help break-up potential shine...and single decal.
This helmet's story.... I originally purchased this online(not ) about ten years or so ago. It had been used and had a sub-par repaint done on it when I purchased and had been worn a few seasons. The helmet liner was about mid-grade and the chin strap was decent w/ appropriate 1940 markings. The main thing that originally concerned me was the paint job. It really didn't do the helmet justice. I just was not satisfied with it and it was starting to wear-off anyway. So, it has not been worn in a reenactment ever since. I sent it to Alexander & Son's where they preformed their art of restoring it properly. The chin strap was pretty decent and still has life left in it so I did not have them replace that, but the liner and overall refinishing I decided to bite the bullet on it and shipped it across the country to California and back where they worked their magic. It received a paint overhaul stripping the old repop paint layer(s) to get to where it needed to be, adding the appropriate correct paint w/ some texture and single decal for that great early to mid-war and beyond look. Slight edge-wear do to being on the shelf. The paint is the thinnest there.
The liner being new and NOT worn will seem a little snug for a 59 liner / 66 shell, because the leather is so new and has not been used, sweat in, etc. It WILL loosen up a little as the leather "breaks-in" and that is straight from the restoration man himself. He uses the highest of quality liners(I believe from the Czech Republic) with super nice quality leather, period correct in every way right down to the marking stamps in the metal, the wool cushioning used in between the metal liner and the liner, to the string used to cinch the top of the leather liner together. Its been a superb addition to my modest helmet collection on display and starting to collect some dust. I have an almost identical helmet w/ same configuration and I do not need two of the same helmet so this can find its way to a good home. I'm not hell-bent on selling it. So, I'm firm on price, but I am offering FREE USPS PRIORITY shipping anywhere in the US or w/in the Global Shipping Program(minus your in-country costs on your end for out of the US sales). Thanks for looking and feel free to ask questions if you have them.
IMPORTANT NOTE: BUYERS are TAXED a sales tax by w/out the permission of the sellers. alone has taken it upon themselves to impose a sales tax on these "electronic yard sales"(sales).
(not us part-time sellers w/ NO storefront and most whom have full-time jobs off-line). is doing this w/out asking sellers on behalf of the states that are mandating it. I personally am against it as are most people selling and buying on here. This is basically an electronic yard sale. So ers beware as sellers can not predict what your imposed sales tax will be before the purchase. It would be whatever your individual sales tax % is in your state. Worse yet...there is NO way for sellers to turn-off the sales tax as alone controls it.
The items here have been taxed again and again and again...and the states have no part in this online sale, but will benefit form what we the little people generate. already gets paid by sellers from the various fees. That much is a trade-off, but it is absurd that our citizens are compelled to take part in it. Its not necessarily even the amount of money taken in sales tax as much is the principle of idea of them taking it from us. How many times do people have to pay taxes on the same, used items before enough is enough. I am a buyer as much as I am a seller and so I too have paid it when purchasing items. I cringe everytime, but seems a necessary evil if I want the convenience of buying things quick. However, we ers are consequently looking for alternative means to sell our extra items and encourage anyone else still reading this to consider the same thing. Until then...I remain your most humble selling servant. -B.
