Lots of great antiques and vintage textiles, photos, jewelry, paper and more being listed this weekend from a fine antique estate I acquired recently! Wish I could get better photos of this fabulous, remarkable piece! It measures 16\" wide and is quite heavy. According to the grandchildren of the original owner, this is one of many fine rare and collectible pieces acquired in Egypt during the 1930\'s and earlier! The silver areas you see are real silver, so beautifully detailed throughout! The base metals appear to be copper and brass. The piece needs a really good cleaning, but care needs to be taken as not to wear down the amazing silver detailing! That\'s why I\'m leaving the thorough cleaning up to the next owner. Although it needs a good cleaning, there is no pitting, rust or corrosion! It is a fabulous piece in excellent condition; again, just needs a good cleaning/polishing from someone who knows how. Notice the amazing lotus flowers surrounding the piece, all inlaid with silver and copper! The details of the faces and bodies of the two figures are fabulous, as well. Notice the detailing of the silver baskets! You can see a small original tag on the back that says, \'Karnak bazaar Cairo\' with a number after it. This is truly a rare treasure! Attachment piece on the back is still sturdy and strong. Colors and attention to detail are much finer than shown on this overcast day!
