A magnificent, fine and impressive antique George III English sterling silver salver made by Paul Storr; an addition to our range of collectable silverware.
This magnificent antique George III sterling silver salver has a circular shaped form.
The surface of this Paul Storr silver salver is encircled with an exceptional band of flat engraved scrolling leaf and floral ornamentation incorporating four large foliate designs and panels of scale motif textures.
The centre of the salver is embellished with an exceptional contemporary bright cut engraved coat of arms depicting party per pale, firstly between a chevron three thistles and second an eagle displayed above an annulet charged with three wheat stalks.
These armorial bearings are surmounted with the crest displaying a dove.
The plain raised rounded border is ornamented with an exceptional cast and applied scrolling leaf decorated border accented with further alternating foliate motifs to each incurve.
This silver salver is supported by four magnificent and imposing Regency style feet, embellished with impressive shell, leaf and fruiting vine designs.
This magnificent salver, crafted by the very collectable and important London silversmith Paul Storr, is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire.
Condition
This antique Paul Storr silver salver is a magnificent gauge of silver, magnificent quality and in magnificent condition.
The flat engraved and bright cut engraved decoration is all very crisp.
The cast and applied ornamentation is all very sharp.
Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the salver are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the magnificent gauge of silver.
