MOST people understand, I am really not trying to sell this clock, mainly showing the original, so you don\'t getfooled by the fake new ones. However, I will sell it if someone actually pays the price. It is in my collection and available at this price!
If you are interested in learning more about real Vernor\'s signs, please message me for great opportunity to see some real ones.The back of the original green painted steel case is 19.5\", as shown. The reverse painted face is 15\" flat glass, with a clear bubble dome glass. NO mfg. name is shown on face or back of case. But, It is definitely NOT a PAM or TELECHRON made clock. Works well!
I figure now that people are paying over $1,000. for a fake clock, that my actual real one, with only 2-3 known in Michigan should be worth at least $20,000!
This was collected by me back in late 1980\'s, well before some big repro face maker in Ohio started making the Vernor\'s repro faces about 10-12 years ago, and unscrupulous sellers claim they are original! Someone even made the first repros in a plastic face, not even glass, and buyers were snapping them up for high prices. Then they changed to glass, but still too many people who don\'t understand or realize all the fakes out there.
The new fake ones do not have the minute details in the paint, especially in the gnomes that this original one has. It is so easy to tell the difference when one knows this one is actually real, and compare the closeup photos to the fakes being sold for $1,000. or more on lately! They are put in PAM or TELECHRON, or OHIO ADVERTISING DISPLAY CO. cases, which they were NEVER made by those companies. Some leave the new faces mint, others take the time to maybe mess up or scratch the new face a bit to make it appear older.Check out the fingers, the belt buckles, the under-eye red \'makeup\' shading, the number and quality of the red and black lines in all the beards. The fakes are close at a glance, but obvious in their faults to the trained eye!BUYER BEWARE!! Please do not be foolish enough to pay over $200. for a new clock with a face like this one! Anyone can buy the fake face for perhaps $65., and add it to any old 15\" face clock, such as Pam, Telechron, or others, and offer it for $1,000. or sell one for $1,075. as was recently sold, supposedly as guaranteed original as claimed by someone who knew it wasn\'t!
I am glad with my 43 years collecting antiques that I am able to give \"Free Education\", glad to help unsuspecting new collectors who do not know of the many fakes, fantasy and reproduction faces being sold in the last 20-30 years!
Vernor\'s officially dropped the apostrophe from their name and signs in and after 1959.
The last two photos show some of my Vernor\'s items: a real 10\" by 30\" 1950\'s heavy steel kick plate door sign (sold out) and the two FAKE, FANTASY (made in last 18-20 years) small (18\" by 6\") tin signs with either SOLID WHITE or SOLID GOLD PAINTED BACK with the same front graphics, pictured with the FANTASY 1999-2000 porcelain \"Ande Rooney\", \"Detroit Skyline\" sign also being sold on right now. (Original was 18\" by 48 to 54\" painted tin/light steel, never originally in porcelain).
