HUGE GEM 179 carat Exceptional Faceted LIBYAN DESERT GLASS Fine Kite CERTIFICATE:
$2995.00

Natural Libyan Desert Glass Tektite

Weight in carats: 179.15

Transparency: Transparent

Clarity: Clear "whisky in water" appearance
This material is not reallyfound any better than this!

Color: Greenish Yellow

Cut: Faceted

Shape: Kite

Specifications of cut: Very good grade, with all the facet edges sharp including the culet.
I personally acquired, designed, preshaped and supervised the cut.
The original superb rough produced a total of two stones similar to each other.
The careful faceting was done by a dedicated professional cutter,
first finishing at about 250 carat shield shape, but it was too deep with light leakage.
It was then recut to this final form for maximum brilliance.

Measurements mm: Length 50.02, Width37.82, Depth 27.60

Provenance
France, Europe.
I had this cut from an attractive undamaged large collection piece,
from the Tektite researcher Hans Roderwald.

Certificate of Authenticity GIR #3118
Complimentary report actually from rare gemstone specialist Mr. Dunil Palitha Gunasekara

Treatments: None

Origin: The Great Sand Sea - Western Egypt desert

These giant sized gems have been complex to export for cutting and import as faceted - as there are strict regional laws, rules and regulations allover; just so large that they sparkle to a degree that wake interest to say the least.
