Ko'oka Communal Bowl, Marquesas Islands A one-of-a-kind, handmade 18th Century communal "popoi" bowl from the Marquesas Islands. Stone carved and of massive size, this bowl was used to serve poi mixed with coconut. Measurements: 28cm (11 inches) height, 86cm (app. 33") diameter. Provenance: From the collection of famed industrialist Andrew Carnegie, Pittsburgh, PA; Taylor Dale, Santa Fe, NM. Curly koa base custom-made by Martin & McArthur. Exhibition: Easter Island Foundation, Kamuela, HI, 2000. Condition: Unique variations from handcarving. It has a delicate undercut inside rim. .
