My Neighbor Totoro OP Anime Cel Douga Animation Art Miyazaki Studio Ghibli RareDESCRIPTIONYou are offerding on an original, one-of-a-kind production cel used in the making of the opening sequence of Studio Ghibli\'s My Neighbor Totoro, the classic 1988 film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The movie follows Satsuki and Mei, the two young daughters of an archeology professor, and their interactions with friendly wood spirits in postwar rural Japan. The movie brought global awareness of Japanese animation and won the Animage Anime Grand Prix prize in 1988. The film was re-released by Disney on March 7, 2006.Memorable opening sequence image when Mei-chan was walking between bugs. This is only one layer cel. Cel is in excellent condition with minimal trace-line fade as expected in cels of this vintage. Minor signs of wear is common in an actual production cel. This theatrical-sized cel comes with unstuck super rare matching douga pencil drawing and non-matching color copy background as shown. Ghibli cel with matching douga is so hard to find especially from OP sequence. Douga is in very good condition with some wrinkles and paint transfer. Background has some minor horizontal lines across at bottom, they are not on the cel. Overall size is 10.5 inches by 14.25 inches.
