The SpaceElephant:Montegrappa’s designers have transformed these noblebeasts, portrayed ‘with long, multi-jointed, almost invisible legs of desirealong with obelisks on their backs’ into miniature manifestations of Dalí’sart. On the Dalí pen, the elephant embraces a barrel of Mediterranean bluecelluloid for the silver edition, or in malachite green for the solid goldversion. When the pen is opened, a quote from the autobiography, The SecretLife of Salvador Dalí, is inscribed on the inner barrel. Montegrappa will issueonly 1000 sterling silver fountain pens and 989 rollerball pens, denoting 1989– the year that Dalí died. 19 solid gold rollerball pens and 61 fountain penswill represent the year he created the 1961 jewellery, The SpaceElephant.
The pens arepackaged, appropriately, in an egg-shaped container, in recognition of anotherDalíesque image. For the artist, the egg symbolised hope and love.
The third ‘creative genius’ in Montegrappa’s roster of peerlessartists is Salvador Dalí. A visionary who personified surrealism, he was also awriter, filmmaker and designer. Blessed not only with technical skills talentbut also with a unique visual sense, Dalí produced a number of significantworks so original and startling that they have entered the globalconsciousness. Among the most famous is his 1944 work, Dream Caused by the Flightof a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening, which has inspiredMontegrappa’s designers to devise a pen worthy of Dalí’s vision. LGC warrants to the original purchaser that products will be free from defects in material and workmanship that affect product functionality for the 60 Day Warranty Period. LGC warranty does not include a \"warranty of fitness for a particular purpose\". If defects, cosmetic or otherwise, are disclosed in the listing, no warranty is provided. If the purchaser encounters a defect within the 60 Day Warranty Period, LGC will (at its option) issue a refund, repair or replace the product at no charge to the purchaser provided the product has been returned to LGC at its head office in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. LGC will not be responsible for carriage and transportation costs of the product return.
