Ojibwe, Chjppewa Dream Catcher, late 19th early 20th Cent. No. MN: $175
This sale is for OJIBWE, CHIPPEWA, OJIBWA, ANISHINABE DREAM CATCHER that dates from the late19th early 20th century. I purchased this dream catcher over 50 years ago in North CentralMinnesota from a First Nations family. The dream catcher measures approximately 4 inches and is 8 inches including the feather. The hoop is willow and is covered with red stroud trade cloth, which is held in place with sinew. The spider web webbing is made of red dyed sinew. I believe the feather is either goose down or semi-plume, and its also held in place with sinew. When my granddaughter was about 3 her parents used this dream catcher hung over her bed and the "bad dreams" went away in a few weeks. I have lost the mote that I had about the purchase of this items so cannot give many details, beyond what I remember. I always feel badly about lost provenance, such as it was. Please consider the photographs as part of the description. I will answer any questions that I can. Thanks for looking and do check out my other sales for other material culture items.
