Original 1799/1800 Deed to the Boon Island Lighthouse Island York County Maine:
Rare is an understatement. If you are in to lighthouses, you will want this. This is the original deed fo the land for the Boone Island lighthouse. It is the tallest lighthouse in New England. As the history goes, the second shipwreck in the early's 1700's resulted in cannibalism and a haunting to this day.
This deed has the property sold from Daniel Weare to Lt. Wm Frost, who was an officer in the American Revolution. Right after the selling to Frost, wood then stone daymarkers were built on the island and then about 1815 a lighthouse. This was needed since the 14 foot island is submerged in a high tide/storm. 13 x 9.5" and guaranteed original and part of my downsizing of historical items.
