This item was purchased by me at the sale of "Property from the residence of OJ Simpson seized by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office and sold on behalf of State Court Receiver appointed to collect the judgments obtained by the Brown and Goldman families."I was a phone buyer during that sale on February 16th, 1999 and won lot #1014 which included a collection of community awardsfrom OJ Simpson's residence. This is one item from that lot. (I may list for sale other items from that lotseparatelyin the future.)
A recent airing of a television series about the Simpson case has renewed interest in the case.
My original purchase price was essentially a contribution to the funds the Brown and Goldman families received as part of this sale due to the civil judgment won by the families against OJ Simpson.
This particular award was given to Simpson by The City of Buffalo on Aug 3, 1985, proclaiming that day "O.J. Simpson Hall of Fame Day." See the photo for text of the award. The award is signed by James D. Griffin, the mayor of Buffalo at the time, and Edward J. Rutkowski, the County Executive, who also happens to be another former Buffalo Bills football player.
I have also shown photos of the original sale catalog listing this lot. I can include copies of pages of that catalog, but because I have other items from this lot, I cannot include the actual sale catalog. I will also include a copy of the invoice I received/paid for the lot.
Frame is approximately 15" x 12".Small nick to cardboard back of frame and one corner tensionermissing from back of frame. Award itself in excellent condition.
