Please make a reasonable offer if you\'re interested.Another amazing clock. Produced and signed by E F Caldwell & Co, this very large, heavy clock makes a real statement. Interest in Egypt and the history of the region was reflected in design during the early decades of 20th Century America. Caldwell reflected this interest by producing this extraordinary clock.
Clock measures 20\" long x 10\" high x 4\" deep. Base is bronze which holds a golden marble plinth base. Paint decorates the center of the marble base. Two Golden Sphinx flank a large drum two color marble clock case, containing a Chelsea Clock Company works. Clock operates well but may need some adjust upon arrival. Marble is heavily veined and I am undecided whether a blackened vein opened up at one point or not. Since the marble is in a bronze tray, it is solid and stable but is it an old crack or a vein in the marble? That I can not say for certain.
The hands and sunburst motif behind them look Deco but the clock is signed \"E. F. Caldwell & Co. New York\", a signature the company ceased using in 1914. However this model clock is in the archives from 1916-1917 and the works are later so it is likely later production. This clock is extremely heavy, as you might well imagine. I would prefer pick up or hand delivery but will ship if needed.
