Up for sale is an Extremely Rare Antique Swizzle-Drink Stir Stick, Very Good Used Condition As Shown, Please see photos for details, Thick heavy glass, Measures approx 5 1/8\" long, This was difficult to photograph and the photos do not capture the piece very well, Displays the likeness of Jean Anthelme Brillat Savarin which is the same likeness/illustration that can be found on the inside first page of his book \"Physiologie du Gout\" - \"The Physiology Of Taste\", This glass stick is from the Cafe Savarin which opened in January 1888 - 120 Broadway New York City, Named after this famous gastronome Brillat Savarin, The Cafe at 120 Broadway was located on the ground floor in the famous Equitable Life Assurance Building which many consider to be the world\'s first skyscraper-and was destroyed by fire on January 9th 1912, This building was also the first office building to feature passenger elevators, The fire reportedly started in The Cafe Savarin\'s basement office and the rest is History, There are many photos of the building covered/encased in ice as the water from the firefighting efforts froze, The Equitable Life Assurance Building was described as \"fireproof\" which has somewhat of an eerie connection to a ship that was dubbed/described \"unsinkable\" that sank just three months later in April-The Titanic of course, Perfect item for an episode of \"Mysteries At The Museum\" or something you might see on display in the New York Historical Society Museum, This may very well be the \"Holy Grail\" of swizzle sticks as well as part of New York City\'s History!
