Incredible Atomic Bomb Firestorm Newsreel Photo Manhatten Project Trinity Test:
$9950.00

An incredible photo of the firestorm created by the first ever explosion of a nuclear device at what is now the White Sand Missile range in New Mexico, on July 16th, 1945.

Thanks to another er for this verification, and you can verify it yourself on a video on YT at about 1:50 mark, but I cannot link it here on but it is called "Trinity Atomic Test complete takes" by atomcentral. This photo is darker than the video but is definitely from this. The information about the photos and videos are also described there.

Apparently, these photos were part of a set of declassified photos used by Newsreel for publication of the event by the press. There is a 6 in the top left corner, so to me that indicates that this was a number 6 photo in a series, probably used for the publication. On the back it is labeled top with an arrow pointing upwards, with "Atomic Bomb" handwritten in the center and below it what looks like 4-5 col 1st which I would assume would be the positioning on the page in the publication it was used in. The photo appears to be definitely a period photo, along with the type of ink on the number "6" and the style of writing on the back. All seem consistent with a period photo. An incredible piece of history found with a huge group of original US military photos, many of which you can find here on my listings here on .
