RARE SIGNED NEOPOLITAN CAPODIMONTE ROYAL JEWELRY TRINKET BOX - CIRCA 1770:
$95000.00

INCREDIBLY RARE SIGNED NEOPOLITAN CAPODIMONTE ROYAL JEWELRY TRINKET BOX FEATURING WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE THE MONARCHS OF THE HOUSE OF BOURBON IN FRANCE - BOX IS CIRCA 1770
The box measures approximately 5 1/2\" high by 6 1/2\" in diameter at the base. Signed on the underside with the blue Neopolitan crown over \'N.\'
Excellent original condition - no chips or cracks. There are some minor scratches and some wear commensurate with its age.
The Royal French coat of arms appears on the lid of this box and it seems it resembles the coat of arms for the House of Bourbon. The House of Bourbon is an important royal house of Europe. Kings from the House of Bourbon ruled France from 1589 to 1792 and again from 1815 to 1848. This is a younger branch of the Capetian dynasty. Members of the House of Bourbon also ruled Naples, Sicily, and Parma in the past.
Interestingly, the House of Bourbon had five monarchs from 1589 to 1792. I believe that the profiles of these five monarchs appear on each of five of the panels on this box. The sixth monarch - appearing on the sixth panel - would possibly be Louis XVII who would have a claim to the throne from 1793 to 1795.
