Looking South from Giza

Our guide brought us to this location because of its commanding view of the Giza plateau. The pyramids of Giza and the city of Cairo are on our left. To the right is the vast waste of the western desert. Ahead of us, in the distance are more pyramids. I believe these are the pyramids of Abusir and then further south is Saqqara. The pyramids of Abusir were built after the pyramids of Giza and are no match for their grandeur. Abusir does represent fine examples of 5th Dynasty funerary architecture, they are about the size of theMenkaure pyramid.
