Minarets.

Religion has always been an important part of the Egyptians daily life. The ancient Egyptians worshipped and built monuments to many gods. Later, the roots of Christianity took hold in this land. Some of the earliest Christians were Egyptian, they were called Copts which means Egyptian. The Coptic church still has a strong following here.

. . . . .By far, the most popular religion in Egypt today is Moslem, it is followed by more then 90% of the population. The spires that you see in this picture are called Minarets, they are an important part of a Mosque, which is the Moslem’s place of worship.
