Vintage Egyptian Nefertari & Goddess Isis Metal Wall Art Cairo 9.5” × 6.5”:
$68.00
Vintage Egyptian dimensional metal wall art depicting Queen Nefertari and the goddess Isis, inspired by ancient Egyptian tomb imagery associated with Nefertari, the Great Royal Wife of Pharaoh Ramesses II.
The scene represents Isis leading Queen Nefertari by the hand. In ancient Egyptian funerary imagery, such scenes symbolized the deceased queen being guided and protected by a deity on her journey into the afterlife. Nefertari, one of the most celebrated queens of ancient Egypt, was the Great Royal Wife of Ramesses II, and her richly decorated tomb in the Valley of the Queens is famous for scenes showing her in the company of Egyptian gods and goddesses.
Isis holds Nefertari by the hand and carries a long staff, while the figures are surrounded by Egyptian hieroglyphic-style symbols. The figures and decorative elements are made of thin flat metal and are slightly raised from the black background, creating a dimensional relief effect.
Gold-tone embossed metal frame. Original label on the back reads “PH. KHOURI, 40 Talaat Harb, Cairo,” with Arabic lettering.
Measures approximately 9.5” × 6.5”.
Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related wear to the frame and decorative elements. Please see photos for details.
