Egyptian revival Tutmania cast bronze bookends of sphinxes circa 1926:
Old heavy bookends with great designs of Egyptian sphinxes that were contemporary with the discovery of King Tut’s tomb.
Square, heavy, bronze bookends showing a darkening from oxidization. The design is of the sphinx in profile with an arch of lotus fronds and a winged orb above. There is no felt on the bases.
There are no manufacturer’s marks or labels.
4” (10.2 cm) wide x 3 5/8” (9.2 cm) tall x 1 ¾” (4.4 cm) deep. Weighs 3 lb 6.7 oz (1.55 kg)
There are no cracks, dents, chips or breaks. The bookends have a dark patina from age.
