VP Charles Fairbanks ALS as Secretary of NY Sec. & Trust 1890 Political Content : $130
For sale is a 1-Page ALS from future Vice President Charles Fairbanks, who served under Teddy Roosevelt from 1905-1909. It touches on some good political content on the midterm elections of 1890 and the Democrat Party. Fairbanks, of course, was a Republican. The letter is dated Nov. 8, 1890 on New York Security & Trust Co. letterhead, of which Fairbanks was President. Fairbanks writes, "Laurence F. Bower, Esq. Dear Sir, I became Secy of the Treasury April 1, 1887. Hugh S. Thompson and ? H. Maynard were the assistant Secretaries of the Treasury while I was Secy. I do not at this moment recall the name of the Assistant Treasurer. The result of the late elections was because the Democrat party has become truly Democratic and has the courage to maintain its convictions. It depends upon the mission with which the Democrat party conducts itself whether or not to elect its President in 1892. Yours truly, Charles S. Fairbanks." This comes from the estate of longtime Massachusetts political and Presidential collector, and guaranteed authentic. The sheet measures 8-1/2" x 5-1/2". Good solid condition and writing by Fairbanks. Comes with an engraving of him too. Shipping is $5.00. Check out my other autograph sales at this time.
