  • “The Uffizi Gallery, which takes its name from the building built by Giorgio Vasari around 1565 by order of Grand Duke Cosimo I, originated from the end of the sixteenth century when the so-called Grand Duke had the large Loggia that stretches out over the entire length of the building to place the sculptures and other artistic collections closed with windows and when his successor Francesco I had the Tribune built by Buontalenti to collect other art objects scattered in the Grand Duke\'s Palaces. In the following centuries and up to the present day, the remaining rooms were built on the sides of the north and south corridors and the painters Butteri Bizzelli and Pieroni were commissioned to decorate the ceiling of the first Corridor and the painters Cosimo Ulivelli and Jacopo Chiavistelli the ceilings of the third Corridor.
  • To the paintings of the Medici collections were added those coming from the inheritance of the Dukes of Urbino, from the Churches and Convents following the suppressions of the Religious Congregations and, some, from purchases. They are ordered in the rooms for schools and eras and of the Florentine school especially you can see all the development from Cimabue to the artists of the end of the 500.
  • The paintings exhibited in the halls are about eight hundred and those along the communication corridor between the Uffizi and Pitti Gallery, which make up the iconographic collection, about fifteen hundred.
  • In this Album there are, of the most main, thirty color reproductions by means of trichromy.
  • The Gallery is visible from April 1 to September 30 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. and from October 1 to March 31 on weekdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and on public holidays.
